Philosophy of Art
The following principles underpin my whole creative process
Human
We live in a real world. A world full of real connections, real feelings, real reactions. My work will always reflect an experience only a human can have, and always have human input. In an ever more automated and digital world, the direct human to human connection becomes all that much more important as the digital disconnect continues to invade our lives. While I do use machines and digital tools to aid and create some of my work, the emphasis is on the bespoke, hand-crafted and is always human operated. No AI. The end product is always intended to create an innate visceral and neurological response that only something intentional and meaningful can. An authentic experience.
Beauty
Celebrate the genuinely beautiful. I will embrace fine forms, elegance and decoration. Things that make world better for their mere existence. Something so beneficial to Being that you may not even be aware of it. Shapes and colours are absorbed by our consciousness and unconsciousness. In particular, a beach sunset.
Home
The place we all belong. The place we feel most comfortable. Able to be our complete selves. This can literally be your household. Mum was world expert at making a home! It is my own town, observing beauty without going far. Celebrating things you only experience because your relationship is deep and has roots. Artwork and homewares to make you feel at home, wherever that may be.
"A feeling of comfort and home, that only the human input can bring."
